Push notifications work with PBXs that can be accessed from the public internet. Use multitasking instead of push notifications if your SIP account requires a VPN connection.
Push notifications work with PBXs but require some changes to the PBX configuration.
- The PBX must be reachable from the public internet.
When using push notifications, your SIP account registers on our SIP Instance Server (SIPIS) which is the server that handles push notifications, rather than directly from the device. This means your account must be able to register from the public internet for push notifications to work. If your SIP account requires a VPN connection, multitasking is a suitable option because push notifications may not function.
Note
To use multitasking, open the Incoming Calls setting of your SIP account, and then select Standard. See faq.acrobits.net/configuring-incoming-calls for the instructions.
- You may use different credentials when registering for push notifications.
To do so:- Open the SIP account's Push Options:
- Android devices - Select > Settings > Accounts > the desired SIP account > Advanced Settings > Push Options.
- iOS devices - Open the Keypad tab, select > Accounts > the desired SIP account > Incoming Calls > Push Options.
- In the Proxy field, enter the specific proxy and port that you want to use for registering push notifications.
-
Select or Done to save the setting.
- Open the SIP account's Push Options:
